Happy December!

Portrait of son Russell & mother who needs to get home & do something with her hair!

I’m off on a walk for groceries this morning, wish I was there. Christmas lights tonite.life is good with beauty everywhere. Look at my son and those salads. yum

Rained so much lovely rain my mascara ran somewhere

what a great day to relive my trip by explaining to each utility company why I was behind in the bills because I stayed 3 weeks extra! how fun it was and the jolly look on their faces!

Really, it all turned out great, they waived my reconnect fee for computer, phone and tv cable and reduced my monthly bill because I told them I was thinking of a lower price elsewhere. I got home late Friday nite, who can pay bills on Thanksgiving anyway? nobody open.

but I am not complaining..they were days away from turning off my water, which really would have made me mad, I got some free newspapers when I returned home because they didn’t record that I wanted my newspaper stopped, nobody broke into my house, even if the car in the driveway was coated with dust from no rainfall under my carport.

My God sent neighbors Jake and Lori turned me houselights off and on and fed the cats, and I couldn’t have asked for more.

I think my best line of the day was at the newspaper office, mind you I am still jetlagged,”did knology(cable, phone, computer) go out of business or did I just get disconnected because I didnt’ pay my bill????

She said to her knology/knowledge, they were still in business, ha ha on me..

I even changed banks from the evil Wells Fargo “I will charge you if you come in the door and you happen to be wearing the wrong color of the day.”

my new bank was lovely and said they had none of the extra charges like WF does. I got free checking and checks and I go back tomorrow to have them set up online banking and ebay with me. Only needed $25 to open a savings account. You can’t ask for a much better day than that! it is even a Monday-Praise God.

the cable girl started getting interested in my adventures and insisted on hearing more about my trip, it was a fun day. I am blessed.

fashions

I just happened to be surfing Ebay, for my new life over there–would this fashion be too much???

please send comments.

this might not be a good place to say this, but yes, I did get job there in UK, I am waiting for paperwork now, registration in UK and work visa papers. Of interest is that they welcome seasoned nurses over there fine as wine. Praise God and thanks S.(going quick on Ebay) would this 'skirt' be too much for my new life in UK? please send fashion feedback to this blog.

gone turkey hunting

my neighbor Lori who watched the cats for a month, mentioned she had a big crowd at Thanksgiving. Too bad I was in bed as I talked to her on the phone, but hungry for leftovers the moment I woke up. soon I will go on a turkey hunt, mayonnaise and white bread salt and pepper hunt.

Christmas in the city- I was there a week ago and I miss it.

When Cody and Ricky drove me home from the airport here, many lights were already on houses, too bad the snow all came in October, because there is none now. Nothing is worse than Christmas lights with no snow.

My first goal today- this being my first functioning day (Sunday) is to walk to the store and get some haircolor so I don’t look like Carrot head but more like  burgundy cherry head. Csaba’s bathroom was too clean, you needed sunglasses to go in, so bright and shiny, and I didnt’ dare splash around my burgundy red new color ‘do(hairdo) in his spotless house. That is the good and the bad of a clean clean clean clean and did I mention clean neat-nik.

what I noticed-

everybody thanks the bus driver when they step off at their stop.

if Russ says, ours is the next stop (as the bus slows down), over there they mean, THIS STOP. Do not wait for the next stop, or you will have gone one too far.

this country loves music and is so cohesive for charity that there is a sock monkey that shows up on various shows (Jools Holland’s piano, next week, bottom of guitar on Graham Norton) and if Brits go to a website and report that they saw the monkey, something happens(I forgot what but I think it is for charity)

Owen is buried in the town square but his dog is trying to dig up the fresh dirt. His mother is suspicious as to where he is, and Denise and what’s his name are still on their honeymoon, she suspects nothing.

jetlagged heaven

It is still Sunday 7am, I’m having post traumatic stress from waking up to Sarah Palin in the bookstore radio news-

anyway-still on UK time and loving drifting in and out of sleep and watching BBC Dr Who, Graham Norton with Lily Allen, preview of JuJu on next Wednesday’s Mary Queen of Shops. We got to know the lovely couple @ JuJu’s and  I told the Mr. I had seen him on tv in South Dakota the week before I came- and he was lovely about it, Russ bought a coat they ordered for him and saved, and I told him goodbye when I passed thru.

People-this is a country where everybody thanks the bus driver when they get off! amazing.

So I checked X factor highlights and waiting for the show tonite. But I can get the blogs early afternoon here. Anyway, I am still over the moon about my time in UK and Brighton and Kemptown, miss my bus rides, walks, walks at night looking at sea, dinners Csaba and Russ worked hours on to give me while I sat on the couch like bloody Royalty. this post isn’t too funny but I am going to post it anyway, reality hits Monday.

I had the state/public radio station on all night, it does BBC all night and state programs come on in the mornings-the news I heard @ 5 am (awful thing to wake up to) is that Sarah Palin will be at the Sioux Falls Barnes and Noble bookstore next weekend! (yes, that is my bookstore 365 miles across the state) and they are advising South Dakota people/listeners to be ready to stand in line all night if they want their book signed-this is red light flashing danger light of why this state is a cultural wasteland for starters.) how soon can I get out?

Great snow today, not really.  A week ago we were Christmas shopping with Ellie in the Lanes and enjoying the Christmas lights, but this snow today is not merrily welcomed…

I fell asleep probably 8 pm last night, but it was way more like 3am in UK.

I woke up at 5 which would be time for one of Csaba’s and Russ’s lunches. Thanks to Cody and Rickey for picking me up at the airport and driving me around for Christmas lights, a successful Dave, and home.

I am reloading my iPod, filling up a hotwater bottle, and going back to bed now that I have made some tea and turned on the heat.

I have been listening to NPR Peoples Pharmacy this morning about stress these days-talks about diet, exercise when yo feel depressed, tomatoes, spinach, salmon, meditation, closing your eyes and slowing down your nervous system and cortisols, breathing…I stopped listening when I dashed off to the kitchen for green tea and my calcium pills I didn’t take on trip, but subscribe to the podcast. I know I have to listen again. Also Speaking of Faith iPods are awesome. We need them today as much as music to calm our souls.

my  baby kitties Sydney, Hendrix and Raphael were faithful waiting a month for me, can you believe it?

I can’t wait for all night cuddles and purrs.

thanks to Rickey and Cody picking me and up Cody taking boxes and boxes of my show to convert to CDs.

later guys, I am knackered!
