it is awful to have to wait so long for a proper vacation. Saving the days for this trip means it has been almost 18 months since my last vacation. Working 4 days a week in a row for 8, 16, 8, and 9 hour shifts Thursday thru Sunday and being on call, give or take some juggling with the last two days, being Saturday and Sunday.
The point is that having off only Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is not like having time off at all, my Mondays were on the couch at home with the cats and a book or tv and I thank my friend Darcy for crocheting me an afghan to keep me warm. Three days off was not allowing me to have time for laundry or leisure with my neighbors who cooked outside and asked me over all the time for food. Finally I will get a Saturday off to have a sale for some of my things to sell and move here. I am glad the church I loved in the town I worked, 10 miles from Wyoming, had a Saturday evening service. The Church of Angels in Spearfish, South Dakota, was so old it reminded me of being inside churches here and in France. It is on the historic register, stained glass windows so old and dark wood walls and vaulted ceiling with dark wood, and the church is small. I was loving going to it on Saturdays at 5 pm service.
Driving the 100 miles round trip to work makes it a miracle I stayed on the roads in the blizzards. God has always watched over me, Holy Spirit and St. Christopher in my front seat.
I wish I could walk to the sea again tonite, but it shows nothing when it becomes dark. I did buy the Shakespeare book I was wishing for and it is great. Two years ago when I was here at Christmas the moon was full. I think two years before that when Brooke and I came here and went to Lourdes, the moon was full on All Saints Day. We took the train ride back to Toulousse airport, on All Souls Day, and saw the fresh flowers in the graveyards. I love it over here. The point of all that was that if the moon was full now, maybe I could see the sea at night.
