I feel calm today, God had to knock me in the head so I would realize that not much progress could be made until my Registration Nursing papers are done over here. Even banging on the front gate of Buckingham Palace was to no avail, and hiding behind the fountains until she passed by wasn’t going to work either.
I wrote so many places yesterday when at Russ’s office on his other computer, and all the answers were to get my registration first. Plenty of jobs, I could have had one the first week if I was ready.
Csaba is really faking it today that he hurt his back, leaning on the couch for a half hour as he knelt on the floor was supposed to be convincing I guess. So I went out and got some chocolate for my favorite master chef and now he is better.
I hadn’t been spending any time in my favorite bookstore, so I went there for awhile and ate butter biscuit (huge biscuit, thick and tons of butter, not available like that in US) and some coffee. I still have a cough so the cafe woman offered me 2 glasses of water and some hot water with lots of honey in it, unasked but she was a shining star to me. What a country.
I read some of Peter Ackroyd’s books, oh to be that smart and prolific.
My dad is back from the hospital and doing well as my brothers family in Wisconsin gives him the love he deserves and hospice comes in. His legs were too edematous for his poor heart. He walked to work for 40 years, swam laps until less than a year ago, and took us ice skating each Sunday when we were growing up, ran after kites that got away, canoeing summers in upper Wisconsin, and still not enough exercise for a Heart? most of it went into loving us I realize. Love you Dad.
Back to the bookstore, they did not have any playing cards and I cannot find any around here. But all was not lost. I read a new book about Lost Lore, by McGovern and Jenner, and it has herbal cures like putting garlic on a cut, how to use a compass and slide rule, various information.
This is a beauty tip I offer to share with you all, going back to 1772. It was one of the first entries under beauty and pertains to getting rid of wrinkles.
Heat an iron shovel, throw thereon some Powder of Myrrh, receive the smoke on your face, covering your head with a napkin to collect the smoke and prevent it being dissipated. Repeat this operation three times then heat the shovel again and when it is fiery hot spit on it a mouthful of white wine. Receive the vapour of the wine also on your face, and repeat it three times. Continue this proceeding every night and morning as long as you find occassion.
And then the book went on to say something like if your choice for beauty is not hot shovels, then read on.
With that finale of information I end this solemn entry.
