I went to bed at 11 pm, that was early for me. I woke up listening to state National Public Radio saying, “patterns are shaping up for significant snow”.
After my glorious bike ride yesterday? what a surprise, I had no idea snow was coming. It is 5pm and already it is dark and cloudy and it has been very windy all day, but not cold, I have had the windows open. Ahhh, there goes the train whistle, that always adds to the loveliness of the day, that lovely whistle two blocks away at the tracks. It has sounded approximately ten times in the last few moments, I wonder why so much?
So I will be watching the weather, I love weather and especially winter. I drive 50 mile to work as I have said. I climb all the way to Spearfish, thru Deadwood, South Dakota. In Hill City we can climb Harney Peak, the highest point east of the Rockies. These Black Hills used to be as high as the Alps, they are so old. We find fish and ocean fossils in Wyoming. Google Bear Butte which I drive past everyday, it is a traffic stopping site to see, a Native American Holy Site, and of course that strange rock formation is only 50 more miles west from where work, it was in Steven Spielberg’s movie.
I am going to ring up my dad to tell him about the storms, maps and weather are our middle names, we love it, also late night radio, it is in our blood.
