This is one of my 3 days off. I bought the new Ted Kennedy biography last week, wanting to know how one can be so inspired and spiritual. He found comfort in sailing. I miss Lake Michigan, I lived in Evanston and biked the path daily when I was in school. What nursing school would have bicycles on hand to ‘rent for the day” for 25 cents?
I look forward to living by the water again in Brighton UK , hoping to find a nursing job in the town where my son lives now. I miss the lakes, I always said it was the perfect place to be alone, and the perfect place to be with somebody and talk about life while the light danced on the waves.
On my days off I have been playing with my clothes, scarves and jackets, looking forward to the long flight to Heathrow in October. I remember when we used to dress up to fly. I found a magazine picture of an organist just playng away in the front of a plane! I love the adventure of change. I watched the aftermath of the Emmys, review of the Red Carpet and the glamor of something we don’t have in South Dakota. I love colors and textures, and being 6 foot tall, I sewed my own clothes for 20 some years, so the pants would be long enough and the skirts would be beautful.
Today I am catching up on emails, jokes, Facebook, this Blog is finally off and running, and hopes to soar to any heights. I woke up to my 3 cats on the bed. Two weeks ago when I finally had to let my 18 year old dogs go to heaven, I woke up the next morning with my cat Hendrix sleeping on my heart.
I have slept on my screened in porch for years, Gabriel and Pine guarded me and the yard. I live on a dead end street just off the park and bikepath. It has always been safe on this street. If somebody really wanted to break into my house built in 1934, they could cut a screen. The neighbors are great. Phil is a wonderful cook and loves being outside at night like I do.
I am going to get back to my day off, green tea, blueberry bagels with cheddar cheese and key lime pie yoghurt.
Today I sit finally
